SOCCER RULES
General Rules
THE REFEREE’S DECISION IS ALWAYS FINAL
No offsides
No Sliding - Except for goalies
Kick-ins rather than throw-ins will be taken from the sidelines when the ball goes out of play
Kick-ins are direct
All free kicks are direct
The referee will start the time at the schedule start time. please make sure to be on time and ready to take the field.
There is a 3 minute grace period for teams to take the field. after 3 minutes, if a team has not taken the field, they will forfeit. the game will still be played but the winning score will remain at 3-0.
Shinguards are optional but recommended
Advanced players may participate/sub in both advanced and intermediate divisions. advanced players may not participate/sub in the rec division. intermediate players may participate/sub in all 3 divisions. rec players may participate/sub in all 3 divisions. Recent top level college, semi-pro, and professional players may not sign up for the Intermediate division.
During the playoffs/finals, in the case of a tie, the match will be decided by penalty kicks (best of 5).
The winner of Intermediate will move up to Advanced for the following season, with the option to move back down in the future.

Penalty Kicks
Substitutions During Game Play
Sub on the fly
Player must leave the field fully to sub before the substitute takes the field as to not to put team in unfair advantage
Goalkeepers
During regular season – goalkeepers may play for any team
During playoffs – goalkeepers may only play for their assigned team
RED CARDS
If a player is ejected from A MATCH they will be suspended from participating in the following MATCH
IF A PLAYER Is Ejected from a second MATCH within the SAME season they will be SUSPENDED FOR the remainder of the season
IF A PLAYER IS EJECTED FRom A THIRD MATCH AT ANY POINT FOLLOWING THE INITIAL TWO SUSPENSIONS, THEY WILL BE PERMANENTLY BANNED FROM THE LEAGUE

Futsal
We follow FIFA rules and the Chicago Futsal Academy rules listed below:
No cleats allowed at Chicago Futsal ACADEMY
The ball remains in play at all times unless the ball hits the ceiling or the netting behind the goal and above the walls or is kicked out behind the sub bench area.
Goalies may kick or throw the ball on a goal kick, however, they cannot throw beyond the halfway point.
Yellow card result in a 2-minute ejection of the player who received the card. The player who receives the card may not be replaced during the 2-minute period and the team will be required to play down a player (or more depending on the amount of cards given). if the opposing team scores before the 2 minute mark, then the player who received the card (or a different player) can re-enter the game.
A red card results in the permanent removal of the player who receives the card. The player’s team must play down for the remainder of the game.
if a player has the ball on the wall, 2 players are not allowed to challenge. it is only 1v1 on the wall.
the referees decision is always final.
